Two awards for insuring clients against crime in KZN
CLANFIN Insurance Brokers have become the first short-term broker in Pietermaritzburg to walk away with the coveted Diamond Award of excellence from Santam, as well as the Gold Award for being the top Midlands broker.
Clanfin’s managing director Derek Holdsworth said the Diamond Award was won in spite of tough competition from 453 other brokers from the entire eastern region of South Africa.
Holdsworth said the awards, which measure premium growth, and loss ratio of the brokerage, would not have been possible without the excellent partnership of Clanfin’s clients, who, through their active risk management, kept their claims to a minimum.
Clanfin’s awards also include business from its branch in Kokstad, Clanfin East Griqualand Insurance Brokers.
He said Clanfin’s alliance with Santam, the biggest insurance company in the country, had also worked well throughout the year and had helped to make the awards possible.
Another contributing factor to winning the award was keen underwriting and risk assessment by Clanfin’s underwriting manager Viz Govender, who has more than 45 years’ experience in the short-term insurance industry.
Holdsworth said that in the current environment of high unemployment, and rising burglaries in particular, for residents and businesses, makes it essential to take out short-term insurance.
He said that all businesses, and particularly small businesses, need to take out commercial insurance, as motor vehicle accidents, burglaries and or fire and peril claims can impact hugely on the profitability of a business and its continued success.
